Santa Catalina

Santa Catalina is a huge convent in the heart of Arequipa. Even if you have seen many colonial buildings in your travels, this one is worth a look. It is not only huge, but the history is fascinating. You can chose to wander through at your own leisure, or have a guided tour.

Museo Santuarios Andinos

This museum exhibits the ‘Juanita, the ice princess’. She was an Inca princess who had been sacrified and whose remains had been found frozen in 1992. You can see the well-preserved Juanitia in the

Arequipa`s Plaza de Armas is truly spectacular. The architecture is magnificent, and there are many coffee shops and bars around the plaza to take in the scenery.
