Colca 3 days 2 nights trekking

1st Day

You will be picked up from your hotel at the ungodly hour of 3:30am, but don´t worry you can catch up on your sleep during the five hour journey to the Cruz del Condor. You´ll arrive at this prime sightseeing spot for the majestic Andean Condor at around 9:00am, so don´t forget to bring your camera! After about an hour here, we´ll then set off for Cabanconde, the Colca Canyon´s largest town, where we´ll have lunch at a local restaurant. Shortly after midday, the trek down into the canyon starts. The two to three hour hike down follows a rocky path, winding path- mind your footing, take it slowly and enjoy the views. You will make it to the first vilage of the area, San Juan de Chucco, at around 4:30pm but unlike other tour operators, we wil only visit this area, thereby spreading the benefits of tourism to another village, Coshñirhua. You will spend the night here with a local family and feast on the dinner cooked by your guide.

2nd Day

Catch up on some sleep today, you won´t be woken up until around 7:30am, and then you´ll be greeted by the sight of pancakes for breakfast, mmm…! After that, you only have to trek two to three hours before hitting the Oasis, the deepest point you will reach in the canyon. You will pass through the village of Malata with your guide giving you explanations about the lifestyles of the people living in this area, as well as more information about the flora and fauna you will see. Once at the Oasis, take time to chill out at the pool for a couple of hours to recuperate and have lunch before taking on the hardest part of this trek- 1,200m back up the canyon to Cabaconde…good practice for the Inca Trail! You´ll make it up to the top between two to four hours, depending on whether you want to beat your guide back up, or take it slow and steady! You can bask in that feeling of satisfaction of having completed the trek in your hotel and enjoy your last dinner in a local restaurant.

3rd Day

After all that effort on the second day, we treat you to an even longer lie-in, should you choose! Breakfast will be at around 8:30am and the private bus to Chivay will leave at 10:30am. After an hour and a half´s bus trip, we´ll get to Chivay where you can choose to visit the towns´s hot springs, or explore the town. We stay here for lunch (not included in the price of this tour) where you can have a buffet for 20 soles or a meal at a local restaurant for 7 soles. The journey back to Arequipa will be approximately three hours and you should be back in Arequipa between 6:00pm and 7:00pm.
