Day 1: Colca Canyon

We will begin this adventure by picking the passengers up at their hotels between 7am by private van (mini-bus). We then head for Cabanaconde, roughly a 5 hour journey. Once there we will have lunch in a restaurant, and then the trek starts with a three to four hour downhill walk into the canyon.

Once down, we go back up a bit to San Juan de Chuccho (2,200 m) and continue to Cosñirhua (2,450 m). The first night is spent in this village in local houses. We will have the dinner with a local family and spend some time with them, which is a good way to discover how life is in the canyon.

Day 2: Colca Canyon

After the breakfast we will keep going to Malata where we have the opportunity to visit a local museum. Two hours more downhill, we will reach Oasis in Sangalle (1,230 m) where we will spend between three and four hours. You'll have enough time to enjoy the swimming pool and relax before our lunch. When you've recovered again, we'll start the hardest part of the trekking: the ascent to Cabanaconde. This entails three to four hour walking uphill on a rocky and sandy pathway to reach this village where we'll stay the night in a local hostel. Dinner is in a local inn.

3rd Day

On the last day we get up quite early (approx 7:00am) after breakfast we will make for Cruz del Condor. We will spend an hour there to observe the famous condors. We will then make our way to Chivay, the most important town in area. Afterwards we will go to the hot springs of La Calera for a well deserved swim (35oC), very much appreciated by your muscles! Back in the centre of Chivay, lunch will be waiting for us. In the afternoon we will make our way back to Arequipa where we expect to be back between 5.00pm and 6.00pm.
